First Lady of the united states ‘Melania Trump’ underwent kidney surgery this morning at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, her team confirmed in a statement.
She had a kidney condition that her staff described as “benign but requiring medical attention,” and she will stay in the hospital for the rest of the week. The procedure was successful and there were no complications. Per CNN, President Donald Trump stayed behind at the White House during Melania’s surgery.
Her staff wrote in the statement that the First Lady looks forward to making a speedy recovery so she can “continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”
They’re referencing Melania’s “Be Best” campaign, which she launched last week, focusing on helping children, particularly in regards to cyber bulling. The campaign was met with criticism from the media, who pointed out that some of her materials were recycled from Obama-era programs. Her staff was quick to clap back at the media for doing so.
Despite providing countless outlets with ample background, information, and on-the-record comments from the FTC, some media have chose to take a day meant to promote kindness and positive efforts on behalf of children, to instead lob baseless accusations towards the First Lady and her new initiatives.
Our office will continue to focus on helping children, and I encourage members of the media to attempt to Be Best in their own professions, and focus on some of the children and programs Mrs. Trump highlighted in her remarks yesterday.
Critics were also quick to point out the irony of the First Lady championing a campaign surround cyber bullying on social media, when her husband has been accused by many of perpetuating a bullying culture on his own social media.
